Innovate UK is widely known as the public body that drives innovation and technology in the UK through work with companies and academia.
Innovate UK often works with the Research Councils to fund research that may lead to new technologies and innovation, and also offers funding all of its own. In its most recent delivery plan, Innovate UK have revised the way they offer funding, creating a system of two calls per sector per year, complemented by two calls open to all sectors per year.
The new funding schemes offer exciting opportunities for academics seeking to work with businesses on innovative ideas. The Knowledge Transfer Network and Heriot-Watt Energy Academy have designed a one-day workshop on writing a successful grant application (12 January 2017) to aid researchers in making the most of the new funding system. The programme will include sessions on the service itself and assessing of applications, as well as ample networking time to make connections and build teams.
Registration will close when the event is full, so do make sure you register soon!
