Anglia Ruskin University has much to celebrate. Not only did we win several high-profile bids in recent months, but now HEFCE has doubled our total research funding allocation for 2015-16.

This is a result of our improved research power rating in REF 2014: a combination of our research quality index multiplied by the number of academic staff we entered.

According to a table published by Times Higher Education, we have the sixth highest percentage increase of the new universities, and are 11th overall in terms of proportionate increase in research funding (discounting some small institutions). In our comparator group we are second behind Bedfordshire in research growth, in percentage terms.

Additionally, our Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) allocation is up 50%.

All these figures are subject to agreement by the new Government, post-election. If confirmed, this will provide us with a solid foundation for research and innovation investment for 2015/16.
