The Medical Research Council and Medical Research Foundation have combined resources to offer funding for work in the complex field of self-harm and eating disorders among children and young adults.
The 'underlying bio-psycho-social mechanistic and environmental drivers' are the focus of the call, and it aims to bring in researchers across related fields of work (ADHD, depression, obesity, for example). The whole of the remit of MRC and MRF are eligible subjects for study in this call, and interdisciplinarity is encouraged. The funders recognise that work in this area is complex, and proposals may be either focused or broad in nature, crossing multiple conditions. Utilisation of existing data and clinical cohorts is also encouraged.
£2m has been made available to support this research, for an estimated five to eight projects (supported at 60% fEC), and projects are expected to run for two years.
Deadline: 31 January 2017, 4pm
