The L'Oréal UK & Ireland Fellowships For Women in Science 2018 call has been announced and is now receiving applications.
This represent the strong commitment to science and women in science of the 'partnership between L'Oréal UK & Ireland, the UK National Commission for UNESCO and the Irish National Commission for UNESCO, with the support of the Royal Society', and provides a highly competitive and prestigious award.
Five fellowships are available for postdoctoral researchers of £15,000 over 12 months that may support almost all direct costs (except salary/living expenses). Somewhat uniquely, L'Oréal says:
"The Fellowships have been designed to provide practical help for the winners to undertake research in their chosen fields. For example, winners may choose to spend their fellowship on buying scientific equipment, paying for child care costs, travel costs or indeed whatever they may need to continue their research."
Fellows also gain access to a strong support and mentorship network, as well as training opportunities. You must be between the award of your PhD and ten-years active research post-PhD to be eligible to apply. You must neither hold, nor have held a permanent academic post. Life sciences, physical sciences, computer science, engineering and mathematics are the only eligible research fields for the fellowship.
The deadline for applications is 16 February 2018.
