It's too late to change your mind on results day, all the good courses are gone, and it's not worth the hassle. Right? Wrong. Clearing is your chance to shape your future, and we're here to help.

Clearing is for people who have done badly on results day

Not so. Clearing is a chance to regroup, reassess and rethink your options, and can be an opportunity to find the best fit for you. It’s also for people who might not be getting exam results at all. Maybe you’ve taken a gap year, or decided you want a career change. We have a plan for you too.

Clearing is a super rushed process, and not worth the hassle

Actually, Clearing should never be a snap decision, and here at ARU, we’ll be on hand to talk you through the process, ensuring that you’re making an informed choice. Avoid the rush altogether by starting your ARU application from 1 July!

In fact, most courses have places left for their ideal students, so there’s plenty of room for everyone.

Bad exam results are the end of the world

What’s done is done. Finished. Finito. Don’t let disappointment get the better of you. Get in touch ASAP to see where your results can take you, rather than worrying about where they can’t.

Your first plan is the only plan

Nope! Deviate from it. You might like what you find. Don’t think of Clearing as your Plan B because:

Actually, you’ll have plenty of support to help you make an informed decision on your future. Stay calm using these stress-busting tips and reach out as and when you need to.

You’ll be treated differently for coming through clearing

Absolutely not. For ARU, it’s not how you get to uni that counts, it’s what you do once you’re here. Our Clearing students are treated exactly the same as any others; fairly and with respect!

It’s too late to change your mind

It’s actually the perfect time to change your mind. Whether you did better or worse than expected in your exams, there is opportunity everywhere during Clearing. You’ll be exposed to courses and subjects you might not have even considered before. Be brave, be curious and grab this chance with both hands!

What is Clearing?

Clearing is an opportunity to reconsider your options, and join a university where you can study something you really want to learn about.

You can apply for uni through Clearing if

  • you didn’t apply before the UCAS deadline
  • your grades are different to what you expected
  • you’ve only just decided to go to uni
  • you’ve changed your mind about what or where you want to study since you originally applied.
