ARU Blogs — Jamie Heywood

Jamie Heywood

My name is Jamie Heywood and I work as an Academic Developer within Anglia Learning & Teaching. My role focuses on designing and delivering academic and professional development activities which embed active, inclusive, and collaborative learning and teaching practices.

One of my favourite parts of the role is engaging with new approaches and ideas, from both ARU colleagues and externally, before sharing in a wider context to promote good practice.

Before joining ARU, I worked as a Course Manager and Lecturer, leading the quality and day to day operations of a Teacher Education & Training provision in an FE College. This was alongside teaching responsibilities where I was lucky to work with a wide range of diverse students from across the community and support them to complete their Teacher Training.

I have taught on a range of courses within FE and HE, specialising in Teacher Education and Psychology, including foundation and bachelor’s degree programmes, professional teacher training qualifications, including PGCE Post-Compulsory Education, Access to Higher Education pathways and 16-19 study programmes. These experiences have enabled me to work with many students, in varied educational contexts, to see the tremendous positive impact education has on people’s lives.
