ARU Illustrator’s book selected for Fitzwilliam Museum exhibition

Congratulations to Senior Lecturer in Illustration Jim Butler, whose artist’s book Blackrock Sequence has been selected for an exhibition at Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.

The What’s New exhibition, which runs until 3 March 2024, features a collection of artworks and objects that have joined the museum’s collection over the past five years. Jim’s book will appear alongside work by the likes of Hurvin Anderson, David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin, Soheila Sokhanvari and Naum Gabo.

Blackrock Sequence was entirely printed by hand by Jim in Cambridge School of Art’s print room, and has been acquired by many leading collections across the world, including The Tate, The National Gallery of Ireland and The Yale Center for British Art. It also won the World Illustration Award in 2018.
