The UK’s creative industries are thriving, providing millions of jobs and billions to the economy each year. Their success is built on a constant stream of new talent and fresh ideas, and imaginative thinking combined with specialist skills.
Our Saturday Art & Design Club provides a year-long opportunity for 14-15 year olds from the Cambridge area to spend their Saturday mornings or afternoons here at Cambridge School of Art, working in our professional-standard art facilities.
These sessions gives the pupils experience of studying creatively in a university setting using specialist facilities, giving them an insight into the many opportunities available within the creative industries and allowing them to practice for particular roles.
The 30-week programme is delivered by our staff and students, with many volunteers supporting the different subject areas. The pupils take part in activities relating to drawing/illustrationm, printmaking, graphic design, interior design, fashion design, animation, photography, and fine art.
The club is co-ordinated by Cambridge School of Art BA and MfA Fine Art alumnus Jo Miller (email link), and the programme is supported by academic staff from the Cambridge School of Art.
