ARU fine artists selected as artists in residence
Since 1956, The Minories has been in the hands of current owners The Victor Batte-Lay Foundation. Recently, they were forced to close their main site because of the pandemic, but have now acquired an old Laura Ashley shop in Colchester town centre.
Following their work reimagining the foundation’s art collection, our three students, along with fellow artist Heidi Sharp, will use this new space as a studio and develop the work as part of their MA Masters Project.
Deborah said of their residency: "They really enjoyed our input and asked us to be their first four artists in residence at their temporary studio in the heart of Colchester. This is really exciting as it is in a great place for footfall, and the exhibition windows are amazing and huge. We will be there initially six weeks (with the hope that it might be longer due to the pandemic), but we have the whole space to work in and they have just started to promote us on social media."
