Drawing upon our Ruskin Modules Open Studios, we are now taking the next step and opening the Studios to the wider community at Anglia Ruskin University.
Creativity is at the heart of everything we do and central to the purpose of ARU's transformative, inclusive, entrepreneurial, and innovative education. But what is Creative Education? Who can be called creative? Where does it happen and how can we activate our own creative talents to engage with students, research, and well-being?
Monday 24 February, 4-5pm
The Open Studios are playful spaces for sharing creative methods and practices, in a safe, playful, and compassionate environment. This series of Studios follows the characteristics of creative pedagogies from the literature, as the framework for an interactive and practical session.
Art and Politics, for the "non-creatives" with Dr Serena Timmoneri
Art has been a form of communication through various mediums. Whether it be music, paintings, sculpture, or architecture, art has the ability to communicate complex ideas and feelings.
After presenting the connection between art and politics, Dr Serena Timmoneri will share some examples of how art has been a powerful tool to vehicle political messages or to achieve political goals.
Using creative methods, she will invite participants to explore how art is present in disciplines in which it seems there is not an immediate connection with it and to discuss the implications for higher education.
