Using Teams for Unified Active Learning in the Classroom

16 - 17 September 2020, 00:00
Chelmsford campus, Cambridge campus

In September approximately 17% of students have opted to study online only for the first trimester. To allow them to engage with the whole course learning experience these students are expected to join on-campus timetabled live (synchronous) sessions remotely. To facilitate this, pool teaching rooms in Cambridge and Chelmsford are being fitted with new cameras and microphones.

This session will go through the technical aspects of setting the teaching room up to use Teams to allow online students to participate in the class remotely before looking at three different scenarios for using Teams and other tools for unified active learning. These include making learning interactive using Poll Everywhere and Canvas, holding small group and class discussions and collaborating and co-creating in Teams and Canvas.

Please note you will need to use the lectern PC for sessions in these rooms but for the training please bring along a laptop or other mobile device so that you can join in with some of the activities to gain the student perspective.
