Your Major Project allows you to apply your knowledge to real-world challenges, helping to build a strong professional portfolio.
You’ll assess British and international events management and operations, and how they respond to opportunities, challenges, risks, and limitations. Explore quality management in events, hospitality, and tourism and have an introduction to finance and accounting, involving economic concepts, accounting principles, and mathematics.
You'll move on to the practical implementation of events and hospitality management and look at human resource management and the range of activities it covers. Next, identify the principal managerial issues in launching an international event. You’ll consider financial, organisational, cultural and ethical barriers along with the conceptualisation, promotion, production, and innovation of events.
We’ll explore these fundamental principles while analysing detailed information about venue types and situations. Topics covered include the history of public venues, business management, finance, ticketing, safety, security, and booking. You'll also assess examples of invoices, cash flows, rental agreements, and financial statements to illustrate real-world situations managers can expect to address.
Finally, there’s the opportunity to conceive and implement your own mock-event, putting theory into practice and gaining valuable practical experience.
