Reflecting on the successes of 2023, Arise are proud to have joined with Pioneer Group to deliver successful workshops for SMEs and small businesses.
Pioneer Group curate innovation-focused ecosystems to deliver the webinars. There were 3 workshops in total, with the last event held at Arise Innovation Hubs in Harlow, providing the opportunity to network with other businesses as part of the sessions.
This highlight of Arise’s 2023 event calendar saw over 30 small businesses signed up to workshops on bringing discoveries and technologies from lab bench to market. The workshop was suitable for PhDs, post-docs, undergraduates, and anyone in the life sciences sector wanting to explore their idea of a starting up a business in health, wellbeing or life sciences.
The three sessions focused on:
- An introduction to Lean Start-up - They looked at the potential customer landscape to identify its wants, needs and pain points. They tested the commercial viability of the idea by using the processes and methodologies of ‘lean start-up’.
- Business Model Innovation – Building on from the introductory session on customer needs, businesses learnt how to use the Business Model Canvas to develop and plan a sound business model to help deliver their innovation at pace and scale.
- Telling the Story – Having developed a value proposition and business model, SMEs learnt how to communicate their business proposition effectively to investors and other key stakeholders.
- Networking Event - Following this final session, Arise Innovation Hubs hosted a networking event with an invited audience of like-minded individuals and industry experts who were keen to offer advice and support.
Reflecting on the success of the sessions, Pioneer group said:
“Pioneer Group was delighted to collaborate with Arise Innovation Hub and deliver a series of workshops around commercialisation in February 2023. There aren't many places to start for young researchers interested in entrepreneurship, so it was exciting to see them engage and learn through these seminars. It was also great to see that a few participants didn’t stop there but jumped into applying these learnings to develop their own entrepreneurial ideas”
