Medtech Engineering Support for Smart Tools UK at Arise.

Smart Tools UK Ltd, a Chelmsford-based mechanical engineering firm, specialises in manufacturing tools, production process and component manufacturing. Working mainly within the medical, manufacturing, aerospace and automotive sectors, they are currently in the development phase of an inventory control medical dispensing machine.
  
As a regular attender at the monthly networking lunches, John Ashford, MD of Smart Tools, met with various academics, support services and research funding teams. Impressed by the collaborative environment and the potential to work with the supportive academics, they took up a virtual occupancy in February 2017. Then in late 2017 they felt the time was right to move to a more professional business space to help grow their business and gain support with the development of the new medtech dispensing tool. The company are currently developing the product in partnership with a UK advanced engineering company, and to develop this further they have sought support from the Faculties of Medical Science and Science and Technology, and are initially working with a Research Intern from Anglia Ruskin University part-funded by the university’s Research Investment Fund.
