The Company:

Mitch Consulting is a firm of chartered accountants providing support for technology start-ups and early stage companies. They offer a full range of financial support from transaction processing to high level CFO advice.
Formed in 2014 by Mark and Jane Mitchell from their home office, Mitch Consulting started with just two tech clients. Since then they have grown significantly and now have over 30 clients on their books, employ six members of staff and in 2018 moved the business to Arise Chelmsford.

Challenge:

The company were looking for a talented individual with accountancy knowledge to undertake an in-depth research and analysis project of their current and potential client base in order to identify any future opportunities for the business to grow.

Solution:
The Arise Chelmsford business support team helped the company by connecting them to Anglia Ruskin University’s (ARU) Employability Service who specialise in matching ARU students with local businesses via work placements and internship programmes. A third year Finance and Accounting student was matched to the company and appointed on a four week contract to complete the project. Mark Mitchell, co-founder and owner said:

;..the process worked very smoothly and we had a selection of high quality ARU student candidates to interview, ”

Outcome:

The student provided Mitch Consulting with a detailed report that gave greater insight into their current client portfolio, whilst also providing data on potential clients, identifying further opportunities for the company. Jane Mitchell, co-founder and owner said,

“We found the ARU student’s input and work to be invaluable in improving our understanding of our existing client profiles and giving the team an overall view of new and prospective clients. The student was also given the opportunity to work with a range of sector specific software, giving them valuable work experience at our busy and growing SME.”

Following the success of this project Mitch Consulting are looking to employ more students for specific projects in the future.
Mitch are just one example of how Arise Innovation Hubs and Anglia Ruskin University can help small businesses grow.
