Adiuvo Engineering: one of the world’s most experienced design companies, resides in Arise Harlow
Adiuvo Engineering is one of the world's most experienced design companies working on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), a type of processor used in high performance computing applications, across a variety of industries.
Founded by Adam Taylor and based at the Harlow Arise Innovation Hub, Adiuvo designs FPGA systems for the some of the biggest names in the aerospace sectors, as well as delivering consultancy and training services to leading chip manufacturers on how to use the devices.
An engineer by trade, Adam has been working with the technology for more than 20 years, and founded his company on the back of a successful technical blog about FPGAs, which has had more than 50 million views since it launched in 2014.
What started as a side project has now become a successful business, mainly working with clients in the United States.
“FGPAs are an interesting technology used in a lot of high-end applications, but which are notoriously difficult to programme,” Adam says. “They’re deployed in autonomous vehicles, and we predominantly work with companies in the space industry.”
Indeed, Adiuvo’s clients include the European Space Agency, for which it is helping design a system for use on the Plato mission. The company will also be building FPGAs and other electronics as part of Nasa’s Project Artemis, which aims to put a man back on the moon.
Adiuvo has been based at Harlow Arise Innovation Hub since May 2021, and having offices at the hub has enabled Adam to build his business, taking on two full-time members of staff, one of whom first joined as part of Anglia Ruskin University’s internship programme.
“Without moving to Arise I don’t think I’d have grown the company like this,” Adam says. “I could have carried on running it from home as a one-man consultancy, but our presence at Arise has enabled us to scale-up our team, with a strong pipeline of work moving forward."
“It has opened up a lot of opportunities and has really been transformational for us.”
