Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship uses our unique expertise to develop leaders and managers who are equipped to face the future and create thriving initiatives in challenging times.
Exceptional leadership and management are critical to success. Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship is a dynamic course designed to help develop your key leadership and management capabilities within a professional, work-related context. The programme will enable you to continue to earn while learning and to apply your knowledge to improve your leadership skills within the workplace. It also offers you the additional benefits of becoming a Chartered Manager or Chartered Fellow from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) or Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
Our SLA takes two years to complete and is delivered through 16 face to face study days plus a launch day and post-graduate study skills day.
A requirement of your programme is that 20% of your learning will be classed as ‘off the job’, which means that you will need to demonstrate by the end of your programme that you have spent time on your SLA programme during normal working hours, either in your place of work or outside.
As well as learning while you earn, the benefits of studying this course include:
Upon successful completion of the Senior Leader Apprenticeship you have the option to complete a dissertation. This work-based project will require you to choose a subject area which has direct relevance and ‘real life’ impact in the context of your workplace. The chosen subject will need to be discussed and approved by your employer. This top-up qualification is in addition to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship and will need to be self-funded or funded with the support of your employer. Please contact us for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Whether you are aspiring to become a professional manager or you already have some leadership experience, our Senior Leader Apprenticeship will arm you with the professional skills you need to enhance your leadership career.
The content and delivery of our degree has been designed to equip you with core leadership skills and knowledge to make an increased contribution within your workplace.
On-programme assessments will consist of 3000-word written assignments which are all work-based in nature.
To achieve the full apprenticeship, apprentices must complete the End Point Assessment. The apprentice must have met all of the gateway requirements which are approved by the training provider and the employer must confirm that the apprentice is working at or above the level of the occupational standard.
The assessment strategy used for the End Point Assessment is as follows:
Performance in the End Point Assessment will determine the apprenticeship grade of fail, pass or distinction.
Your study blocks will take place face to face at corporate venues, such as hotels and conference centres in Cambridge and Chelmsford. The venue will be subject to recruitment numbers.
Studying during COVID-19

In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic the majority of our apprenticeship courses are being delivered online only using our established online learning systems. The provision offered is subject to change due to the possibility of further Government restrictions, however the University remains committed to delivering teaching and ensuring a COVID-19 secure environment for those that are on campus.
