You can now engage and employ both new and existing staff as apprentices on one of three Standards: Assistant Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Associate, or Registered Nurse.

This route is ideal for providing current Band2/3 healthcare assistants the opportunity to develop their careers, especially if they are new to higher education or would like to make a fuller contribution to the nursing team.
The Nursing Associate is a new NMC-registrable role in the nursing workforce, supporting registered nurses in all Nursing fields within primary, secondary, community and social care. Nursing associates help to plan, coordinate and deliver care, and work to a nationally-recognised Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct.
On successful completion of the course and the End Point assessment, and a bridging module to equip them with the required specialist knowledge to prepare for a career as an Adult, Child or Mental Health Nurse, apprentices can opt to top-up to a full Bachelor’s degree by joining the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship Top-Up (see Option 3, below).
Staff who have successfully completed a Level 5 qualification in nursing (or a related subject) can apply to top-up to a Level 6 qualification and join the Degree Apprenticeship with up to 180 credits of Accredited Prior Learning (APL).
