High-performance judo

ryan burt with national medal

Judo is one of several high-performance sports at Anglia Ruskin University, with elite judoka able to access dedicated training and support.

Athletes train in a purpose-built dojo for up to 12 hours per week, as well as undertaking physical training. Our judokas also attend training camps and randoris at the National Training Centre.

Recently, high-performance athletes from our judo club have travelled to Serbia to train alongside Olympians and fighters on the European Circuit.

It's no surprise that club members have won national medals, European university medals and many BUCS medals.

Performance athletes (when selected by the coach) get:

  • free sports club membership
  • free gym access
  • access to sports therapists to help with prehabilitation and recovery from injury
  • sports performance talks.
