Join us for an online talk from CC Simon Bailey on how the National Police Chiefs Council and Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command have responded to calls to improve their response to the proliferation of indecent images of, and threats to children online.
In 2014 the Director General of the National Crime Agency used their Sec 5(1) Crime and Disorder Act Power for the first time and tasked the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command (CEOP) and National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) to improve their response to the proliferation of indecent images online (IIoC) and the online threat to children.
Since then, there has been a step change in the response to the threat. However, the question still remains: has it been enough, and to what extent have COVID-19 and lockdown affected the response?
CC Simon Bailey, NPCC lead for Child Protection and Abuse Investigations, will look back at the progress that has been made and candidly address the questions, before setting out the areas where he believes improvements still have to be made.
