Travel and directions

This information is for guidance purposes and may be subject to change.

Cambridge is well connected to London and the East of England by train and car, as well as being within a couple of hours journey time from all the major London airports.  Please see below some guidance on travelling to the symposium.

Air

Cambridge is within easy reach of Stansted airport, with London Gatwick, London Heathrow and London City not far behind. For details on how to get to Cambridge from the London airports, please see the PDF below.

Rail

There are frequent trains to Cambridge, serviced by direct trains on the lines from London Liverpool Street, London Kings Cross, Standstead Airport, Norwich, Ipswich and Kings Lynn.

If you come into the country by rail - via the Euro tunnel through France - then you will arrive at St Pancras station. Follow the signs to Kings Cross (a ten-minute walk), where you can take a train directly to Cambridge.

Car

There are a number of public car parks within easy walking distance of our campus.  Grafton East (book Grafton East parking here) and Queen Anne (book Queen Anne parking here) are the closest car parks to the Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. You can pre-book spaces at both car parks and get special deals on group bookings.

The Park & Ride services are an excellent way to get around the city. There are five services with a total of 4,500 free parking spaces. They are all open seven days a week. Travel times into the city centre vary between ten and 30 minutes.

Four of the Park & Ride services stop at the Grafton Centre, opposite Anglia Ruskin University:

  • Babraham
  • Madingly Road
  • Milton
  • Newmarket Road

Please note that there is no parking at the Anglia Ruskin Cambridge campus unless you are a Blue Badge holder.  If you are a Blue Badge holder, and require a space, please contact [email protected], and we will try to organise this for you.  Please be aware that Blue Badge parking is very limited on the campus, and therefore we would suggest that you contact us as soon as possible to arrange this.

More information on parking in the city is available from Cambridge City Council.

Taxis

There are many taxi companies operating in Cambridge, including those listed below. It is often cheaper to book in advance if you require a taxi from the airports.
