ARU is closed for the holiday period from the end of Friday 18 December. We re-open on Monday 4 January. But we want to reassure you that if you’re staying on campus over the festive period, our teams will be here to support you.
You’re welcome to stay and celebrate the festive period with us, and together with the Students’ Union and our Peer Wellbeing Mentors, we’ll be hosting a range of events and activities.
Join one of our Good Mood Cafes, take part in our Festive Monthly Quiz or enter one of our seasonal competitions. We’ll have activities to help support your wellbeing, so you can meet with others online and where possible, face-to-face with social distancing in place.
Keep checking the SU website for events and activities to get involved in.
Please note that many of our campus services won’t be available until we return in January. If you contact us over this time you may not get a response until we return. However, the following support and services are available.
The Counselling and Wellbeing Service is available to you over the Christmas break. They’ll be holding bookable drop-in sessions on Teams from 11am–12 noon, 21 December–4 January excluding bank holidays.
If you need emergency support please contact us as soon as possible.
Our Peer Wellbeing Mentors (other ARU students who are here to look out for your wellbeing) are also here from Friday 11 December–Monday 18 January.
The team will be available on the ARU Together page on Facebook at various times for you to talk to or ask any questions.
They’ll be running a range of free virtual activities take part in, wherever you are for the holidays. This includes events such as:
More info and booking links will be available on the Students' Union website.

The Library will be open with slightly different opening hours.
The Residential Service will be closed from 4.30pm on Friday 21 December until 8.30am on Monday 4 January 2021.
The ‘Help’ guides and information posters in your kitchen have lots of information that might help you with smaller issues, but please get in touch with your Residential Assistant if you are not sure what to do or if there’s an emergency.
