Social distancing

We're following Government guidance on coronavirus and aiming to maintain social distancing on campus, wherever possible.

To do this, we've organised buildings and activities on campus so that a two-metre distance can be maintained. You'll notice floor markings and one-way signs across campus – please take note of them.

Some of the measures we've put in place include:

  • restructuring the timetable to stagger break times, and prevent crowds from forming outside teaching spaces
  • changing the layout of classrooms and other specialist learning spaces, such as workshops and science labs, to comply with social distancing requirements
  • offering grab-and-go options at our catering outlets, and using cashless payment.

In case of an emergency, such as a fire evacuation, we don't expect you to maintain two-metre social distancing if it wouldn't be safe to do so.

We understand, of course, that two-metre social distancing isn't always possible. In these cases we've carried out risk assessments, and put a number of extra measures in place to manage the risk of Covid-19 transmission. Your Personal Tutor will be able to explain the social distancing arrangements for your course.

We know that coronavirus has affected everyone in different ways, so if you have any worries or concerns about studying at university this year, our Counselling and Wellbeing Service is here to help.
