The coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is evolving rapidly and we're monitoring the situation on a daily basis, following the advice provided by Public Health England (PHE) and the UK Government.
We're also providing regular updates to our students and staff. You can visit our dedicated staff pages on The Heron for more information and advice.
We moved fully to online teaching, support and assessment from Monday 23 March. All students (undergraduate, postgraduate, research, on- and off-campus) will be able to complete their courses and earn their awards.
On 19 March we agreed to an automatic extension of ten working days to all existing deadlines for any assessment tasks due to be submitted.
Although our University libraries are closed, students can still access online resources and book appointments with subject librarians.
We will fully support all our students’ wellbeing, engagement and progress through continuing guidance, communications and online resources.
Following the Government’s announcement on 18 March of new measures to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, and in light of the increasing constraints on global travel, we encouraged all students to return home if at all possible.
We continue to provide accommodation for students who were already in University houses and unable to return home. This includes support from our Security and Estates and Facilities teams.
All information and advice for students is on Student News.
All staff are working from home from Monday 23 March, except those providing support to students unable to leave or maintaining business-critical functions.
Please be assured that we will be doing everything we can to help our students overcome the challenges ahead, continue their studies and complete their courses. Our students are our absolute priority, and we will do everything possible to support them over the coming weeks.
We're also in touch with applicants about our admissions and offer-making timelines for courses starting in September 2020.
