Work experience

Lord Ashcroft Business School student, Lynn, talking on the phone

Our interns can take part in numerous opportunities to gain valuable work experience. The projects, opportunities and initiatives to work as partners expands year-on-year, enhancing the student experience within the Faculty.

Some examples of the work carried out by our interns:

Academic assignments

  • Opportunities to work as an academic intern
  • Support research for our academic staff
  • Assist staff to ensure our curriculum is inclusive for fellow students

Events and conferencing

Two LAIBS students stood by a banner with their thumbs up
  • Learn how to plan and execute a successful event
  • Help to plan and promote events and initiatives to build community within the Faculty of Business & Law and wider university

Students as our partners

  • Advise our deputy deans at the ‘Deputy Dean’s Advisory panel’ meetings (DDAP)
  • Participate and inform the direction of the faculty at our Strategic Planning Conference
  • Present to boards, conferences and fellow students
  • Participate on staff recruitment interviews as a member of the student review panel
The work opportunities provided by the Intern Programme team and working in the SAB have helped me to learn a lot about leadership roles, communication, analysis and research

Learning and supportive community

  • Plan, organise and manage an international peer support scheme for new arrivals called ‘Welcome Buddy’
  • Run information sessions about the Intern Programme
  • Ambassador work to inspire future students
  • Outreach opportunities in the local community
By working as student ambassador and engaging with people at events on campus, I became more confident to interact with people. This has helped me to secure a part-time job off-campus as Customer Service Assistant, which I could not be able to achieve without this Programme.
