Audition information by course

For some of our undergraduate courses, you will be invited to attend or submit an audition as part of your application process. These are BA Drama, BA Music, BA Musical Theatre and BA Popular Music.

The following information applies to all four courses, but they also have individual audition requirements and packs.

Please email with a link to a video or recording (see below) no longer than ten minutes of you performing a piece from your individual course audition pack (see below). Include your name, the course you are applying for and student ID number.

Please host the video on a video sharing site such as YouTube or Vimeo - you can set it as 'unlisted' and send us just the link. If you are unable to share your video via a video sharing site please use a file sharing service such as Google Drive or Drop Box. If you do, you need to ensure your file is less than 1GB.

Individual course requirements

BA (Hons) Drama

Please prepare a monologue from our BA (Hons) Drama audition materials pack and video yourself performing the piece.

Please note that our BA Drama and Film and BA Drama and English Literature courses do not require an audition.

BA (Hons) Music or BA (Hons) Popular Music

If you play live, you should provide a video of you performing or playing. If you produce recorded music you should prepare examples of recordings.

You should prepare one or two pieces lasting up to ten to 15 minutes duration. You can choose any material to play – we especially encourage original material.

You should also provide samples of any creative work (compositions, recordings, leadsheets). You are also invited to show us any other examples of creative work, or provide links to online media or any other examples of you performing or playing.

BA (Hons) Musical Theatre

You'll need to prepare a monologue of your choosing and two contrasting songs from our pre-selected list. You'll find more instructions, and a list of song options, on our Musical Theatre auditions page.
