Audition information by course

For some of our undergraduate courses, you will be invited to an audition as part of your application process. These are: BA Drama, BA Music, BA Performing Arts and BA Popular Music.

The following information applies to all of these courses, but they also have individual audition requirements and packs.

Face-to-face auditions

The audition itself will last around 5 minutes and you will perform a piece from your individual course audition pack (see below).

You are invited to bring any other examples of creative or written work to the audition, or to provide links to online media.

Please allow up to 1.5 hrs on campus as you will also have the opportunity to ask staff and current students questions and have a tour of our facilities and explore the campus.

Skype auditions

If you are unable to come to an audition, you may audition by Skype. Please email admissions-ahss@anglia.ac.uk to book your slot with your Skype ID. Include your name, the course you are applying for and student ID number.

International and EU auditions

Please email admissions-ahss@anglia.ac.uk with a link to a video, no longer than 10 mins of you performing a piece from your individual course audition pack (see below).

Include your name, the course you are applying for and student ID number. Please host the video on a video sharing site such as YouTube or Vimeo or, if you have to send a file, use an email transfer service such as We Transfer.

Individual course requirements

BA (Hons) Drama

Please prepare a monologue from our BA (Hons) Drama audition materials pack. This will be a practical session, so it would be a good idea to wear clothes in which you are able to move freely.

NB our BA Drama and Film Studies and BA Drama and English Literature courses do not require an audition.

BA (Hons) Music

If you play live, you should bring your instrument with you to the face-to-face audition (although pianos, drum kits, amplifiers and large percussion instruments will be provided). If you produce recorded music you should prepare examples of recordings.

Please also bring your own music accompaniment to the face-to-face audition if needed (mp3 and mp4 are supported).

You should prepare one or two pieces lasting up to ten to 15 minutes duration. You can choose any material to play – we especially encourage original material.

You should also provide samples of any creative work (compositions, recordings, leadsheets) and one sample of your written work (from your A-level studies or similar). You are also invited to show us any other examples of creative or written work, or provide links to online media.

BA (Hons) Performing Arts

Please prepare a piece from our BA (Hons) Performing Arts audition materials pack. This will be a practical session, so it would be a good idea to wear clothes in which you are able to move freely.
