TB-Test - A smart mobile enabled scheme for tuberculosis testing

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the most devastating infectious diseases and its treatment efficiency is majorly influenced by the stage at which the TB germ gets diagnosed. TB represents a public health concern in Malaysia and in many neighbouring countries, with a current incidence annual rate of 80/100,000.

Aims of the project

  • To develop a mobile enabled Point-of-Care (POC) platform to detect TB.
  • To improve efforts in controlling TB through wider, faster and low cost 24/7 real-time access.
  • Introduce the system to High Commissions (includes UK) in the countries that require TB test for the visa application.

Project workshop

On Thursday 15th March 2018, we presented a workshop in Putrajaya, Malaysia to disseminate the results of our TB-Test project. The workshop was entitled Tuberculosis Disease Diagnosis Using AI, Bio-sensor and Digital Technology.

Approximately 30 people attended the workshop from different disciplines including doctors, local health professionals, researchers from Nanotechnology Malaysia, and chemical and computer sciences staff and students from our project partner Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
