Join Kerensa Jennings to learn about The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, known as iDEA. iDEA is a new programme that helps you develop digital and enterprise skills for free through a series of online challenges and events. Learn more at iDEA.org.uk.
Kerensa runs iDEA, an international programme aiming to help address the digital skills gap. Kerensa was previously the BBC's Head of Strategic Delivery. Her work on the BBC's Make it Digital strategy earned the Innovation Enterprise Chief Strategy Officer's Best Innovation Award. Kerensa is also a Professor, an Executive Coach and a bestselling author. She is passionate about helping people unlock their potential.
MARC (Module Average Result Calculator) is an online tool that allows students to calculate their current average mark and indicates what average mark they need to attain in remaining modules in order to obtain a given degree classification. MARC was piloted as part of a research project with Level 6 students from the Anglia Law School and the Department of Psychology. We'll present the outcomes from the research project, as well as providing an opportunity to examine the potential benefits of this type of tool. We'll explore how this tool can support the progression and achievement of our students, as well as offering delegates the opportunity to:
Damien has worked at Anglia Ruskin University since May 2008, in a number of different roles. He first had the idea for a degree calculator whilst working as a student adviser in 2011, and the MARC research project has afforded him the opportunity to fully explore a concept he has been developing in his own time and with his own resources.
This session introduces the RNIB Bookshare service and how it can support your print disabled students.
Karen is Subject Librarian for HEMS at Cambridge supporting student and staff usage of digital information resources including specialist databases, reading list and referencing software.
Researcher identifiers allow you to unambiguously connect your name(s) with your research outputs and disambiguate yourself from other researchers with similar names. Many institutions, publishers and funders are starting to mandate the use of certain identifiers.
In this session we will explain why researcher identifiers are important. We will demonstrate how to manage your profile in the major citation and researcher identifier systems (ORCID, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar) to help increase your professional impact and standing.
Ian is the Research Services Manager in the University Library.
This interactive workshop will present some of the results of an AL&T project intended to stock Canvas commons with short films, falling under a wide range of themes of interest to students, that staff can upload to their Canvas sites. We will present the background, method and results of the first phase of this project, including clips of students’, ‘top tips’ for fellow ARU students, before opening the workshop to collaborative discussion of further films to add to the commons archive that all can share.
Liz is Principal Lecturer in Sociology and is interested in contributing to effective staff student collaboration in learning, teaching and fostering a public university.
Karen is Student Engagement Manager for ALSS, with a focus on the ‘Student Journey’ from Induction to Graduation. She is interested in developing student activity, in collaboration with students and staff, relating to social and academic engagement and retention.
John is a Learning Technologist in the Faculty of Arts, Law & Social Sciences and has a background in both cartography and town and country planning. He is a Fellow of the HEA and is particularly passionate about digital learning, accessible and inclusive design, and sustainability.
Ian is an educationalist with a special interest in technology and pedagogy. He is currently the Canvas Learning technologist for ALSS.

The eDevelopment toolkit is a reference for useful links, some best practice and guidance to useful tools for many topics, including eLearning, graphic content, polls and quizzes, videos and more. Maintained and updated by library staff, the guide continues to grow.
