ARU is a modern, globally engaged university that is an outstanding regional anchor institution, committed to transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial research and education.
In the last Research Excellence Framework, twelve of our research areas were classed as generating world-leading research, and our reputation for research and innovation is growing. We draw on the breadth of ARU’s strengths to develop ideas and solutions which have the potential to enhance social, cultural and economic wellbeing at national and global levels, and enrich our curriculum to maintain teaching excellence.
We now seek two Deputy Deans (Research and Innovation) to help us lead the continued growth and development of the University’s strategies around research, innovation and industry engagement:
Now is an exciting time to join us. Our Designing our Future Strategy 2017-2026, sets out our vision, priorities and ambitions for the next ten years. This roadmap positions us to become a distinctive university that is entrepreneurial in nature, strongly focussed on our students and fully inclusive of all who want to study, work or partner with us.
The Deputy Deans (Research and Innovation) will enable us in our vision by building on existing areas of research strength in the faculties, and identifying new opportunities for development to deliver a step change in research quality, innovation, impact and reputation. They will support the diversification of research income and secure growth in outputs, and transform Faculty engagement with industry, business and other external partners. As part of the Faculty Executive Group and recently established Research and Innovation Leadership Team, they will be a key contributor to the strategic leadership and management of their Faculty, and to ARU.
Candidates will be highly professionally achieved, visionary and forward thinking, with an ability to inspire colleagues. You will work with a range of academic staff, professional support colleagues, students, partners and funders. We’re looking for self-starters with high levels of motivation and ambition, who will work collaboratively and in a strategic manner with internal and external stakeholders.
