Our Inclusivity and Safety in Sport, Physical Activity and Organisational Settings hub is led by Senior Lecturer Dr Matt Jewiss.

Vision

Our hub investigates the determinants, culture and characteristics of safe and inclusive environments within sport, physical activity and organizational setting with a focus on powering engagement within underrepresented communities.

An understanding of this will underpin the development of interventions that stimulate the creation and facilitation of safe and inclusive environments in a responsible, safe and sustainable manner.

Mission

Our hub’s mission is to develop a thorough understanding of the determinants, culture, and characteristics of safe and inclusive environments in sport, physical activity and organizational settings.

Pillars

We have three pillars, including:

  • Inclusive research with persons with disabilities and/or under-represented populations in Sport, Exercise, Physical Activity and Organisational settings.
  • Understanding and enhancing the safety of persons engaging in sport, physical activity, and exercise.
  • Understanding the human factors which determine safe practice, performance and psychological safety in organisational settings.

Meet the team

We are comprised of ten ARU academic researchers and 22 postgraduate PhD students:
